The much-anticipated business edition of Facebook's social network Facebook at Work is finally here, with a new name - Workplace, after 18 month beta and it's already adopted by more than 1000 companies. Just couple of hours ago we saw a Facebook post by Mark Zuckerberg about the platform called Workplace created by Facebook.

Today we're making Workplace available to any company or organization that wants to use it. Everyone's experience on Workplace will be different, just like everyone's experience on Facebook is different. But I think Workplace will help more companies create the kind of open culture that encourages people to connect and share. - Mark Zuckerberg,

Facebook Workplace by Facebook let's you connect with your team within the company and make collaboration much easier.

Workplace by Facebook features

Although it's very similar to the Facebook you already have, Workplace offers a little more.

  • This platform will be ad free and separate from your regular Facebook account,
  • You will have full functionality of Messenger like group discussions, voice and video calling,
  • And your own personalized News Feed.
  • Go live feature is also present and
  • You can track the activity and manage your community.
  • Unlimited file, photo, video storage,
  • Integration with 3-rd party tools like Okta, Ping, Windows Azure AD, etc.

Beside the mentioned features we are really curious about the collaboration with other companies on Workplace. As they are promoting on the website Workplace encourages working with other teams and companies but they are displaying the collaboration with a simple public post.

We will see how that will work.

Pricing and free trial period?

If you are interested you can apply for 3-month trial period after which you will be charged from $1 to $3 per user depending on the number of workers who are active within the company. Non-profits and educational institutions can use the platform free of charge.

We wonder, is future of corporate emails safe?

As we are getting closer and more used to social networks and apps we are also changing the way we communicate with each other. We are using email for business communication for over 40 years and it's, without any doubt, the #1 service for communication, but a lot of companies have slowly started to change this habit.

On the other hand we have LinkedIn as a professional network but we still want that email to be send into our inbox.

We are keen to check the platform out and join numerous companies (Booking.com, Starbucks, OXFARM, Telenor, Renault etc.) that are already of Workplace.
